Sounds like what happened to your cell phone a few years ago.

Happily, that wasn’t my cell phone. At the time, those things tended to cost a few hundred dollars. But the cordless phone in question did cost enough that I didn’t want to risk a repeat performance and no longer keep the recycling bin anywhere near the phone.

And then, just last night, I accidentally dropped Wylie’s leash into the recycling bin. (He was quite disappointed when I took it back out.)
