Terry's Humor Page My photo album My career in StarFleet! Cool bird links.
On April 24-25, 1999, Daddy took me to a Star Trek convention where he was working. I spent most of the day on the 25th hanging out at the STARFLEET recruiting table, doing my part to help the recruiting effort. (Mainly by whistling and chirping at people as they walked past. Once I got their attention, it was up to the other people at the table to get them to sign up.)

Around 1:00 in the afternoon, Daddy came by to make sure I wasn't causing trouble (I was behaving, then anyhow) and took me for a ride on his shoulder while he ran errands.

An important part of my job is be adorable. (That's why birds spend so much time preening -- we're being adorable.) I must have been doing a pretty good job of it too, because before long one of Daddy's friends came over and invited me to perch on her arm.

Well, that was all it took. Once one human started playing with me, a bunch more wanted to play with me too. Being cute is hard work, but since somebody has to do it, it may as well be me.

After a small group had gathered around me, a man walked out from the back stage area and started asking Daddy questions about me. It was Ethan Phillips! (The actor who plays Neelix on Star Trek.) He let me perch on his arm and then I surprised him by running up to his shoulder to say "Hi!"

Daddy says I'm too small to hold a camera (he's probably right), but lucky for me, some of his friends had cameras with them. Here's some of the pictures they gave me:
